At Westin we believe that elevating the well-being of our guests empowers them to rise up to be the best version of themselves inside our walls and out in the world. We are on a mission to spread well-being to those that need it most and elevate the lives of others in the communities that surround our hotels too. To start, we asked each Westin associate to take the skills that they use every day to help guests to rise and translate them into an idea that could make a lasting and positive impression on their community or the world. Hundreds of innovative ideas were submitted. After thoughtful review, we selected an insight with the potential to positively change the industry.
Every year we turn over large quantities of bedding due to wear & tear. With the help of Clean the World, a renowned recycling organization, we initiated a sustainability program to collect and reweave this linen into new fabric.
We transformed the upcycled linen into thousands of pairs of children’s pajamas. The secret to a good night’s rest is establishing a bedtime routine – the simple act of putting on PJs improves a child’s sleep hygiene and in turn helps a child sleep well.
What is the common thread between our hotels’ Heavenly® Bedding and children’s PJs?
Sleep is often considered less of a priority in the health and wellness space, particularly in comparison to healthy eating and exercise.
Sufficient sleep is critical for children’s overall health, growth and development.
Insufficient sleep is associated with a number of daytime consequences such as lower cognitive performance, increased fussiness, and lower academic achievement.
A sleep deprived sixth grader will function at a fourth-grade level in the classroom.
Low-income children are more prone to thinking and stressing about friends, family and home conditions at night as they fall asleep.
Putting on pajamas as a part of a bedtime routine can significantly improve a child’s quality of sleep. Establishing a routine helps children fall asleep quickly and sleep more soundly.
Knowing children in low income families are at a higher risk of sleep deprivation, we plan to distribute the pajamas to those that need them most. With our partner Delivering Good, we identified local non-profits around the globe whose focuses revolve around setting children up for success.
ThreadForward supports Marriott International’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction. Marriott is committed to making a positive and sustainable impact wherever it does business and at Westin we made it a priority with this initiative to help achieve the organization’s goals with a primary focus on reducing environmental impact.
50 % of reduction of Carbon Footprint

ThreadForward Pajamas are also available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will go to the local non-profits to ensure every child has the opportunity to establish a bedtime routine.
